The rapeseed oil production line is a complete production system that processes rapeseed into qualified rapeseed oil through the following procedures: first, pre-treatment steps including cleaning, crushing, flaking and steaming-roasting (or directly proceeding to the next step); then obtaining crude oil via pressing or solvent extraction; finally, conducting refining processes on the crude oil such as degumming, deacidification, water washing, drying, bleaching and deodorization.

The steamed and stir-fried material embryos are fed into a screw press. Inside the machine, there is a rotating screw shaft. As the material embryos enter the pressing chamber, they are gradually conveyed forward with the rotation of the screw shaft. Since the space of the pressing chamber tapers from the feed end to the discharge end, the pressure exerted on the material embryos increases continuously, typically reaching 15–25 MPa. Under such intense pressure, the oil is squeezed out of the material embryos and flows out through the gaps of the press cage, while the remaining solid matter is discharged from the outlet of the press as rapeseed cakes.

 Solvent Selection
N-hexane is commonly used as the leaching solvent, owing to its excellent oil solubility, low boiling point (around 69℃) and ease of recovery.

Leaching Process

The pretreated material embryos are conveyed to the leacher and brought into full contact with n-hexane. At a temperature of 50–55℃, the oil dissolves in n-hexane to form miscella. Leaching methods include immersion, spraying, mixed mode and others, to ensure the thorough extraction of oil.

Miscella Treatment

The miscella first enters the primary evaporator, where indirect steam heating under a relatively low vacuum evaporates most of the solvent, thereby increasing the miscella concentration. It then flows into the secondary evaporator for further solvent evaporation, yielding concentrated oil with a small amount of residual solvent. The concentrated oil is subsequently sent to a stripping tower, where direct steam is introduced to remove the remaining solvent under high temperature and vacuum conditions, finally producing leached crude oil.

Desolventizing of Wet Meal

The wet meal obtained after leaching contains a large quantity of solvent. It is transferred to a desolventizer-toaster, where steam heating volatilizes the solvent and separates it from the meal. The recovered solvent is recycled for reuse after condensation and distillation purification.
