Soybean raw materials are often mixed with impurities such as soil, gravel and straw. The vibrating screen uses sieves with different mesh sizes to remove large-grained impurities based on the differences in particle size. This step ensures the normal operation of subsequent equipment and improves the quality of the final oil.
The cleaned soybeans are properly crushed by a crusher, generally broken into 4–6 pieces. Crushing increases the surface area of soybeans, facilitates subsequent processes such as softening and flaking, and lays the foundation for oil extraction.
Adjusting the moisture and temperature of soybeans is the key to the softening process. In the softening cooker, soybeans are heated to a temperature of 60–70℃ while their moisture content is controlled within the range of 15%–17%. Optimal temperature and moisture levels soften the texture of soybeans, enabling them to form thin flakes without breaking easily during the flaking process.
The softened soybeans are fed into a flaking mill and rolled into thin flakes with a thickness of approximately 0.3–0.5 mm. Flaking disrupts the cellular structure of soybeans, increases the contact area between oil and the external environment, and improves the oil yield efficiency in subsequent processes.
