Use a cold press to extract oil from the pretreated flaxseeds at a relatively low temperature (generally not exceeding 60℃). Cold pressing can maximize the retention of nutritional components in flaxseeds, such as alpha-linolenic acid and vitamin E, but the oil yield is relatively low, generally ranging from 18% to 22%.
During hot pressing, first heat the pretreated flaxseeds to a temperature of 100–130℃, and then feed them into a screw oil press. The screw shaft rotates inside the pressing chamber, exerting high pressure on the materials to squeeze the oil out of the oilseeds. Hot pressing features a relatively high oil yield, which can reach 30%–35%, but some heat-sensitive nutritional components will be lost.
Solvent extraction method: Crush pressed meal and feed into extractor; use n-hexane and other solvents to extract oil under specific temperature and pressure conditions. Filter miscella, separate solvent via evaporation and stripping, recycle solvent, and ensure crude oil meets solvent residue standards.
